Impact of Climate Change on Ecosystems in the Context of Sustainable Development

Data from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) indicate an abnormally rapid increase in average annual temperature recent decades. In entire history of direct instrumental observations, there has never been such a long and strong warming. Climate change is one most acute problems facing current generation, as it poses real threat to development human potential improvement quality life. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called climate top geopolitical economic issue 21st century. Speaking at special high-level meeting on (September 22, 2009), he emphasized that this problem threatens development, peace prosperity, will lead water, food land scarcity, cancel out progress achieving Millennium Development Goals, poverty destabilization weak states fall regimes.
